Below are the minimum requirements for a clinician and a TL to perform CDI work (PH only).
- Has to be a New York state (USRN) (knowledge on anatomy and pathophysiology, disease process and management) This is an Omega requirement, not a client requirement.
- Minimum 3 years bed side experience in specialized areas (acute care setting) This is an Omega requirement, not a client requirement.
- Coding knowledge (ICD-10, HCPCS, Clinical codes and compliance, DRGs with MCCs and CCs)
- Certified coder is preferred but not required.
- Certifications and continuing education as required by clients – CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) and/or CDIP (Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner)
