Description of Job
In recognition of the proven link between nutrition and the child's ability to learn, the purpose of the Food Service Department at CSDB is to prepare and serve nutritious meals that comply with Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to a food service operation, as well as the guidelines set forth in the National School Lunch Act. The goal of the Food Service Department is to recognize individual food preference and ethnic backgrounds of our students, and to make every effort to provide diversity in menu planning. The Food Service Department accommodates special dietary needs and requests when possible, and provides food for meetings, student activities and special functions on campus.
This position provides administrative support to the Food Service Department, including tasks such as laundry support and meal count management. It involves scanning student names for breakfast and lunch verification, ensuring students have the required meal components for reimbursement, and overseeing the free and reduced lunch program for CSDB students. The Position is a .79 FTE and works a school year calendar.
Brief Duty Description:
Performs a wide variety of related duties in support of position.
Maintains a cohesive environment to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of meals served.
Acts as a resource to provide guidance and redirection for the Dining Service I position.
Coordinates with Food Service Manager to ensure the recipe books are maintained and up-to-date pertaining to recipe details and order of books.
Ensures the department food order guides and food inventory guides are maintained accurately and up to update.
Types the monthly school menus in an accessible format for the Blind School. Posts monthly school menus, including accessible menus on the school website.
Files and organizes paperwork in a timely manner as established by the Food Service Manager.
Provides mini training (i.e., reimbursable meal requirements and operating procedures) for the staff using established references by the Food Service Manager.
All other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-Must be a current CSDB employee
Experience Only:
Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to two (2) years
Conditions of Employment:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Survival skill level, or applicants must be willing and able to attain fluency at the level required within a specified period, as demonstrated by an appropriate assessment tool and according to school policy/procedures.
A courteous, professional, and helpful attitude in the role of CSDB representative.
Ability to respond effectively and positively to feedback; ability to participate actively in a team setting and to work independently; strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of information, efficient problem solving skills.
