CFU is currently recruiting for a full-time Electric Construction & Line Supervisor to help lead our Electric Distribution team. This position directs and leads construction projects, employees and crews involved in the installation, operation and repair of overhead & underground communications and electric lines. This position requires proven leadership skills, achieving results through team involvement and commitment.

The Electric Construction & Line Supervisor works under general supervision of the Construction Services Manager.

Compensation & Benefits
Full-time FLSA Exempt position with pay range of $97,620 - $133,880. Starting annual salary is based upon individual qualifications.
Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 3:30pm. Must be willing to work on-call rotation and overtime when necessary. Off-hour on-call responsibility is required in this position to help coordinate response teams. At times, requires working long hours in response to outage situations.

Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates work schedules and job assignments of electric construction employees in the absence of their supervisor; assists and directs crews on emergency outages; ensures accuracy of time-sheets and overtime work. Coach, counsel and monitors the work performance of employees to achieve productivity and maximum customer satisfaction; ensures employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs.
Ensures that records are kept and up to date in accordance with our tree trimming program filed with the Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC) and meets with IUC inspector during their inspection. Also manages the installation of new underground services and coordinates locates, digging, cutovers, and writing basic service orders.
Maintains equipment and tools in good working condition; answers technical questions workers may have about equipment and materials; coordinates work with contractors, tree crews, electricians, and other vendors.
Organizes construction job records for future reference and locations of projects; ensures safe and efficient working procedures and practices are followed on job assignments.
Recognizes team needs by encouraging involvement and reviewing results; Establishes work procedures and processes that supports company and departmental standards, procedures, and strategic directives.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that promotes positive relations with customers, co-workers and management.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or a vocational school. High school diploma or G.E.D supplemented by vocational training, preferably in electricity.
Five (5) years as journey electric line worker and leadership experience.
Certifications / Licenses:
Required to have good driving record and valid Iowa driver's license.
Must maintain a valid Iowa Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A.
Residency:
This position requires an employee to reside within20 milesof the Main Office Building at 1 Utility Parkway, Cedar Falls.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Iowa Utility Commission Regulations, Cedar Falls Utilities policies, procedures and safety manual; City, federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing utility construction; construction equipment, tractors, backhoes, basket trucks, cable locators, etc.; utility map reading, and computer software applications.
Ability to: Develop and motivate a team; direct the team in support of CFU mission and vision; read and utilize maps, maintain accurate records, utilize computer databases and software; carry out work assignments as instructed; maintain accurate records; communicate effectively orally and in writing in the preparation of reports and presentations; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Physical Tasks and Environmental Conditions:
The work involves mid to high levels of construction duties in an unpredictable work setting. Work is conducted outside, in varied conditions and terrain including adverse weather conditions, and in a normal office environment which requires sitting, walking, standing, and completion of paperwork. Drives to various job site locations and customer premises to supervise work, and review/discuss construction job requirements. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, use hands to finger, lift objects (up to 100 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. There is also a risk from electric hazards, dangerous machinery, inclement weather conditions, hazardous chemicals and other extraordinary working conditions.
