Position Summary: Experienced Property Accountant with Real Estate/Affordable Housing experience, to undertake all tenant billing and collections.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Review monthly posting report to make sure all next month tenant charges will be posted correctly, and communicate with leasing and property managers to make sure all errors will be corrected before being posted.
- Prepare and mail out monthly tenant rent bills.
- Collect tenant rent and follow up on old receivables.
- Manage accounts receivable aging, prepare monthly collection reports, and send out rent arrears letters monthly.
- Post tenant payments and subsidies timely to the tenant accounts.
- Review tenants move out & coordinate with AP to have tenant security deposit refund processed accurately and timely.
- Maintain tenant security deposit sub-accounts in the bank.
- Assist Manager with annual budget, audit and tax return.
- Cross training with other accountants and be their backup when needed.
- Prepare additional reports, analysis & tasks as required by Manager.
- Adheres to organization’s standards by completing annual mandatory trainings in a timely manner on topics including – but not limited to – Sexual Harassment Prevention Training, IT Security Awareness, Compliance, OSHA, HIPAA and any other training the organization may deem necessary in regards to regulatory compliance or good business practices.
- Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationship with co-workers.
- Adheres to the organization’s policy in regards to absenteeism and appearance.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000 per year commensurate with experience.
Job Competencies & Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or Economics
- 3+ years Real Estate/Affordable Housing accounts receivable experience preferred
- Experience with general ledger functions and understanding the tenant account ledger preferred
- Excellent accounting software user. Yardi experience preferred
- Problem solving abilities while multi-tasking; ability to exercise sound judgment.
