Banana Kelly is a non-profit community development corporation located in the South Bronx. Our mission is to contribute to a revitalized, safe and economically vibrant South Bronx through the development and management of affordable housing and the provision of targeted human services. We empower residents through supportive services and vocational, educational, and cultural programs that assist in the retention of affordable housing accommodations and foster self-sufficiency and collective capacity through self-help, mutual aid and cooperation, community organizing and advocacy.

The Comptroller is responsible for the organization’s financial management. The main objective is to protect Banana Kelly’s revenues and financial obligations to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.

Reports to the President and CEO

Responsibilities

Drive the organization’s financial planning
Perform ongoing risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities andliquidity and cash flow projections.
Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
Supervise all finance personnel
Manage vendor relationships
Prepare reliable current financial and forecasting reports
Ensure that all reporting is achieved in a timely manner
Oversee the organization’s IT system
Ensure compliance with all government laws, rules and regulations
Ensure compliance with organization’s policies and procedures
Ensure that all books and records are in and remain in auditable form
Work directly with outside auditors and board audit committee
Work directly with all department heads with regard to budgeting and operations
Oversee all insurance contracts
Participate actively in on-going professional growth and development; maintain appropriate professional behavior and participate in appropriate supervision

Requirements

· Proven experience as a Comptroller, finance officer or relevant role

· Construction accounting experience or familiarity and willingness to learn

· Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting models

· In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices

· Effective communication skills

· Excellent organizational and time management skill

· Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software; knowledge of Sage 50 (formerly Peachtree) and Yardi.

· Able to work independently and as a member of an organizational team

· An analytical mind and comfortable with numbers

· Familiarity with professional and technical emerging knowledge

· Problem solving skills and ability to multi-task

Starting salary is based on factors such as experience and education. Banana Kelly offers an excellent benefit package including health insurance, 401K, and generous paid vacation, sick, personal days.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
